The crowns can be of several types:
- Metal-ceramic crowns
- Ceramic crowns
- Zirconium oxide crowns
- Plastic dental crowns
Metal-ceramic crowns
The type of crowns is considered to be the most popular. As the name implies, they are made of metal base and covered with ceramic. The base can be made of both cobalt-chromium alloy and precious metals.
Ceramic crowns
Ceramic crowns have no metal base and are made of pressed ceramic. This method is aesthetically pleasing and quite durable but is used for indicated defects.
Zirconium oxide crowns
Zircon oxide crowns have a special place. These crowns are considered the best in all respects. They are very durable, they look beautiful. The only drawback is that they are quite expensive.
Plastic dental crowns
This type of crowns is used in modern dentistry only for temporary constructions. In other words, these are temporary prostheses that are used until the final construction is ready. The tooth is prepared for the crown, and until the crown is ready, plastic crown is temporarily fixed.
