Caries - tooth decayCaries is a disease of the hard tissues of the teeth, the external manifestation of which is enamel and dentin infection, which leads to the initial damage of the tooth and then the formation of cavities.

Caries occurs in successive stages. At first, a white or yellow stain appears on the tooth enamel surface. Later it changes color and turns brown. In the next stage, the enamel and dentin are damaged. This process is very slow. The resulting cavity deepens and tooth decay gets larger. Food debris in the cavity is a good nutrient medium for microorganisms that are present in large quantities in the cavity.

The first stage of caries can remain unchanged for years. If you notice a carious cavity, you should immediately consult a dentist. Otherwise, pulpitis may occur as a result of a subsequent infection, and then you will have to visit a specialist because of acute pain.

Treatment of caries

Treatment of cariesCaries treatment is completely painless as it is done under anesthesia. Removal of infected tissue is performed under the supervision of a caries detector, which colors only the affected tissue, preventing the removal of healthy tissue. After processing, the cavity is filled with a modern light polymerization material. You should consult a dentist at the first sign of caries, because the later the treatment of caries begins, the more tissue is damaged and then removed from the tooth.

In the case of deep caries, a healing pad is applied, which stimulates the formation of secondary dentin by tightening the wall between the filling and pulp (nerve).

We recommend our patients to perform frequent professional oral hygiene, which will allow you to clean plaque and tartar, which plays a major role in the development of caries.
